CITY HALL, HOBART

DRILL's 2015 major season, Radical Kid, was a double bill of fresh, gritty, contemporary dance works by choreographers Joshua Lowe and Angela Barnard. The work seeks to empower young people, highlights that each of them has potential for greatness and asks them to shake off unnecessary barriers and insecurities.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT 2014

DRILL returned in 2014 with the creative development of Radical Kid! The company of dancers worked intensively during August and September on a creative development for a double-bill work, one by Joshua Lowe and another by DRILL's new Artistic Associate, Angela Barnard. Radical Kid was an opportunity for young people to work alongside professionals to collaboratively create fresh, exciting dance and culminated in a sharing.

Our young company members took regular weekly technique class as well as two to three rehearsals per week with their choreographer. They also received other opportunities such as free tickets to shows, workshops with visiting choreographers and four were selected to attend the Yellow Wheel Winter School in Melbourne on full scholarships.

This project also enabled Josh to work with students from Rokeby High School, Kingston High School and Ogilvie High School on small dance projects within their schools. A workshop series was also offered to local high schools and colleges.
