HOBART

Over five weeks, DRILL worked with three primary schools and one high school to collaboratively create pieces in response to our own kunanyi/Mt Wellington and learn about contemporary dance practice. Each school chose a different element relating to the mountain and its effect on our community and history.

For the first time DRILL also formed a junior company made up of young dancers aged 10 to 14, supported by some of our senior company members. Company members trained twice a week and also made their own 25-minute piece.

The Mountain Project featured 136 young dancers, who all contributed their thoughts, opinions, creativity, enthusiasm and boundless energy. The whole project culminated in a performance day in the studio at Ogilvie High School.
