2022 Annual Report

DRILL delivered a number of amazing projects in 2022. Highlights included:

  • Produced in collaboration with the Bob Brown Foundation filmed on location within takayna/Tarkine, A CALL TO ARMS is a dance film created with internationally regarded choreographer and filmmaker duo the Samaya Wives.

  • DRILL’s Senior Company performed dissolving labels at the MAC 02 warehouse in nipaluna/Hobart. Our young people collaborated with green room award winning director Davina Wright, visual artist Billie Rankin and experimental sound maker Richie Cyngler, as well as Artistic Director Isabella Stone.

  • Over 100 young people collaborated with HK Vermeulen, Keia McGrady, and Isabella Stone to create a new work around the theme ‘What Makes you Move?’ for Dance Nexus Glenorchy.  Schools involved were Montrose Bay High School, Windemere Primary School, Glenorchy Primary School, Goodwood Primary School and Austin’s Ferry Primary School.

  • DRILL, in partnership with The Story Island Project & Libraries created 3 site-specific performances of our Junior Company, plus a book written & illustrated by participants for Collective Writing – Collective Dancing.  Our young people collaborated with Artistic Director Isabella Stone and emerging artist Gabrielle Martin to create the work.

  • For STILL DROMPIN, DRILL’s senior company attended a dance development camp in Launceston in partnership with Stompin.

  • DRILL’s Senior Company undertook a creative development for our 2023 work AGE with Elle Evangelista.
