SENIOR COMPANY

Ages 13 to 25

DRILL Senior Company is an ensemble of young artists aged 13 – 25 who come together to create and perform DRILL’s major performance offering annually. Young people both with and without prior dance training are welcome, though some dance experience is advantageous. Senior Company focuses on developing new contemporary performance work collaboratively, between the participants and a lead creative team of professional artists, of which the Artistic Director curates.

The creative process for our major show runs from April – August, mirroring that of a professional contemporary dance project, with rehearsals taking place on weekends throughout school terms and intensive rehearsal periods in school holidays. Being a part of Senior Company also means Company members attends the Thursday night classes as part of the company experience. The new work is shared with school and public audiences.

DRILL performs in a variety of venues creating work that is both site-specific and theatre-based. Performance venues vary annually, informing and reinventing the work we create.

We facilitate a Call Out in April each year for young people to attend free of charge to meet the Artistic Director, experience a DRILL dance session and be introduced to the themes of the year’s major performance.

Second to the major show, we offer an annual Artistic Program of smaller projects inclduing festival engagements, choreographic opportunities and skills building workshops.
