JULY 20TH TO AUGUST 21ST, 2020.

Dance Nexus is an annual combined schools dance program by DRILL. Each year we work with selected primary and secondary schools in a 5 week in-school residency to create dance pieces around a common theme. For previous years, check out 2018 and 2019.

For Dance Nexus West Coast 2020, DRILL choreographer and teaching artist Hannah Vermeulen led 73 students in 54 workshops across five weeks. This is the first time Dance Nexus was delivered on the west coast, including five different groups of creative and energetic students from Mountain Heights School, Rosebery District School, Strahan Primary and Zeehan Primary from grades 3 – 8. A film of each of the school’s unique dance creations and an edited finale was made to capture their hard work and discoveries through movement, creating a safe outcome within COVID restrictions. The film has been shared with the participating schools, their families and friends and you can watch it below!

Thank you to Black Crow Visuals who filmed all the excitement over the final week of the program.
