APRIL 29TH TO JUNE 30TH, 2019.
CLARENCE
Moving East is a new program for DRILL in 2019, working with schools in Clarence to create dance for public events over two terms.
Moving East 2, choreographed by Hannah Vermeulen, Joshua Lowe and Tullia Chung-Tilley, connected six scientists from the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies and the Australian Antarctic Division with the six participating schools. The scientists have shared their work, research and career pathways with the students, who then create a choreographic work in response.
DRILL was so happy to support senior company member and Bayview Secondary College alumnus Jarrod Pearson, employing him as intern to work alongside Hannah to deliver the project in the primary schools.
After nine weeks of rehearsals the students came together to perform for audiences at World Games Day, held in Kangaroo Bay.
Moving East was made entirely possible by funding from the Clarence City Council, and was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.
